چکیده

Chondrosarcoma are a heterogenous group of primary malignant bone tumours, and are the third most common primary malignant bone tumour (Dorfman and Czerniak, 1995). Intracranial chondrosarcomas however are a rare entity, and account for only 0.15% of all intracranial tumours (Bloch et al., 2009, Bloch and Parsa, 2013, Bloch et al., 2010). The median survival time for patients with intracranial chondrosarcoma has been reported to be approximately 24 months with 11.5% 5-year mortality (Bloch et al., 2009). Whilst this is consistent with previous studies (Oghalai et al., 2005, Colli and Al-Mefty, 2001), the largest study of intracranial chondrosarcoma, by Rosenberg et al., 1999, demonstrates a 5year survival of 99% when surgery is Abstract

Endoscopic Endonasal Infrapetrous Transpterygoid Approach to the Petroclival Junction for Petrous Apex Chondrosarcoma: Technical Report

Chondrosarcomas of the skull base are rare tumors that present difficult management considerations due to the pathoanatomical relationships of the tumor to adjacent structures. We present the case of a 25-year-old female patient presenting with a chondrosarcoma of the right petrous apex extending inferiorly, medial to the cranial nerves. The tumor was resected via an endoscopic endonasal infrap...

Surgical Technique: Endoscopic Endonasal Transphenoidal Resection of a Large Suprasellar Mixed Germ Cell Tumor.

The endoscopic endonasal transphenoidal approach has proven to be a very versatile surgical approach for the resection of small midline skull base tumors. This is due to its minimally invasive nature, the potentially fewer neurological complications, and lower morbidity in comparison to traditional craniotomies. This surgical approach has been less commonly utilized for large midline tumors suc...

Extended endoscopic endonasal surgery using three-dimensional endoscopy in the intra-operative MRI suite for supra-diaphragmatic ectopic pituitary adenoma.

We describe a supra-diaphragmatic ectopic pituitary adenoma that was safely removed using the extended endoscopic endonasal approach, and discuss the value of three-dimensional (3D) endoscopy and intra-operative magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to this type of procedure. A 61-year-old-man with bitemporal hemianopsia was referred to our hospital, where MRI revealed an enhanced suprasellar tumor ...

Primary Osteosarcoma of the Skull Base Treated with Endoscopic Endonasal Approach: A Case Report and Literature Review

Introduction Giant cell-rich osteosarcoma (GCRO) is a rare pathologic diagnosis, and most cases have involved the appendicular skeleton. We present a challenging diagnosis of GCRO of the skull base treated with an endoscopic endonasal approach. Case Presentation An 18-year-old female patient presented with acute monocular visual loss. Imaging revealed a large clival mass encasing the internal c...

Endoscopic endonasal resection of a giant middle fossa epidermoid cyst

Intracranial epidermoid cysts are rare. We report a case of a 55-year-old man who presented with trigeminal neuralgia and was found, on imaging, to have an epidermoid cyst located in the right middle fossa. He was managed via an entirely endoscopic endonasal approach. Postoperative magnetic resonance imaging confirmed complete removal of the mass, and the patient continued to have complete reso...
